We can hardly wait for you and your children to come and take part in the exciting changes at Treetops.
The grounds have been restored with the help of the US Fish and Wildlife Department. The work day crews, headed by Patty Smith, have the inside scrubbed and shining. And multiple resources for the children to connect nature with the arts, music, literature, math, science and more have been added. (We’ll miss our hurricane treeosauresses.)
The kids themselves have added their contributions! The T&G kids from HEB created an upstairs nook to connect myths and legends to dreams. Teddy, the highly talented son of our Chinese-American family, set up a music corner where he taught youngsters to play the key board. The Child Montessori groups from San Antonio gave us a huge world globe to identify continents and their countries. The IB students from the Garland ISD installed a sprinkler system by the front gate to water the garden which students from the Latino Leadership groups from a San Antonio Kipp-related Charter School planted.
Additionally, teachers working on their advanced placement courses from Carroll-Southlake and other adult groups worked on CEU credits.
